Hazard Volunteer Fire Department — Critical Equipment Replacement
We are looking for funding to help us purchase and outfit a 6x6 for a tactical tender. This will give us better wildland capabilities due to high clearance 4wd, ideal for rough terrain such as the pastures that are in our area and surrounding fire districtsThis rig will be dual purpose. Allows us to have the capability to allow dynamic roadside, perimeter or interior attacks on grass/wildland fires, and have the capability to either directly fill type 6 engines, or to dump water in portable tanks. Will also have the ability to carry water to rugged remote areas where typical tenders and trucks are not able to gain access too.

As a small community we rely not only on our members but also on the support of neighboring communities during times of crisis Unfortunately, with outdated equipment, we are unable to serve our community and others to our fullest potential. Your assistance will help us enhance our capabilities and better respond when disaster strikes.

We are seeking to enrich the downtown area of Loup City by adding outdoor speakers. They will be used to play holiday music, specific music for special events (such as Polish Days), and just general music to create an inviting downtown shopping area.

Peterson Park Improvement Project
Over the last 2 years, the Loup City Ball Association has been working hard to make much needed improvements to Peterson Park Ball Fields. Our community was blessed 20 some years ago with a very generous donation to make those fields come to life but the fields are now at the point that are needing some updates and improvements. Two years ago, the infields were redone with red dirt and completely transformed the look of the fields. Loup City is blessed to have one of the best, if not the best field in our area, but now the fields are in need of new Score Boards. Currently the south field score board only keeps score for the visiting team, the north field is the same scoreboard and also has its moments of not operating correctly. Volunteers have patched the scoreboards electronic systems over the past few summers but we are now out of "patches" and the systems are obsolete. During the summer months, Loup City Ball Association organizes roughly 140 youth athletes to play at Peterson Park, hosting multiple games four to five nights per week. There is also an "Old Man's" softball league that plays games on Sundays in Loup City also. These games bring opportunities for our not only our youth but also the middle aged men of our community that want to still feel young! :) Opponents drive in from as far as 45 to 60 minutes away, bringing potential business opportunities to our local businesses. In addition to the scoreboards, the Loup City Ball Association would also like to continue to work to add shade for the visiting team bleachers as well as some improved parking in the future.

Gasteyer Nature Sanctuary & Outdoor Education Center
Funding will be used for the planning and initial stages of development of an Outdoor Learning Center at the Gasteyer Sanctuary located south of Loup City along the Middle Loup River. The Loup City Public School Foundation recently accepted the donation of the sanctuary from the Gasteyer family and plans are to create an outdoor classroom that students and families can enjoy while experiencing and learning about the vegetation and wildlife in their natural habitat.

ALS Service Equipment
The ambulance service recently upgraded their services to an ALS service, which is a higher level of care. Because the EMT's can now provide more medical services, they will be able to accept more runs. The regulations for these services require additional safety equipment for storage of medicines that are only used for ALS services. The two safes we are seeking will be installed, one in each ambulance. Occasionally, they have the need to meet the medical helicopter to transport patients. Having the helicopter landing zone light kits will assist the EMTs in being able to meet the helicopter in low light conditions. We are seeking three sets, one for each of the two ambulances, and one for the fire department.

Sherman County Sprouts Child Care has raised $50,000 and is challenging the community for $50,000 to support child care scholarships for local families, retain and recruit quality staff, and strengthen the long-term sustainability of our child development center.
Your Big Give donation will help ease the financial burden for families, invest in the dedicated teachers who care for our children, and ensure Sprouts can continue serving our community for years to come. Every gift helps a child thrive, a parent remain in the workforce, and a local family build its future right here in Sherman County.

We are raising funds to support the teachers and students at Litchfield Public School. We want to continue to give out 2 scholarships to seniors each year. Keep up morale of the teachers by offering coffee days, food at Parent-teacher conferences, etc. Both students and teachers are important to our community and we strive to work together with them to offer a safe and fun environment.

What if a student knew, as early as 5th grade, that their community believed in their future?
Through our Teammates Mentoring program, we currently serve 30 students—and that number continues to grow as we expand our program at Loup City Public Schools. Many of our Teammates are currently in 5th–7th grade, and while college may seem years away, we believe the time to invest in their future is right now.
This Big Give, we are raising funds to build a scholarship fund for our Teammates students, creating opportunities for them to pursue college and further education when the time comes.
Your gift does more than put money into a scholarship fund. It puts possibility into the future of a young person. When you give, you are telling our students: We believe in you. Your goals matter. Your future matters. And your community is behind you.
Our mentors are already walking alongside these students—encouraging them, building relationships, helping them set goals, and reminding them of their potential. Now, we want to make sure that when our students reach graduation, they have opportunities waiting for them.
