Roman and Patricia Badura Scholarship
Roman, a banker in Ashton for 40 years, and his wife. Patricia, both felt strongly about the importance of education. When Patricia died in 1997, Roman dedicated a scholarship in her name. After he died in 2018, the couple's children added Roman's name to the Scholarship.

Lois Badura Kaminski Scholarship
Lois Kaminski was a familiar face at the Ashton State Bank for many years as one of its tellers. Years before her death, she established this scholarship specifically to benefit high school seniors from Ashton or Loup City who planned to major in Education or Business.

Eugene Billesbach Scholarship
In honor of Eugene Billesbach's long history of coaching Loup City Legion baseball teams, this scholarship was established by his friends after he died. The scholarship's intent is to help further the education of Loup City HIgh School seniors who demonstrate athletic prowess and a financial need.

Arline Clark Scholarship
A savvy Lou City business woman, Arline Clark accumulated wealth by saving and investing her earnings as a bookkeeper and office manager, with the occasional splurge on furs and jewelry for herself. Arline graduated as salutatorian of the Loup City High class of 1936 and her work ethic mirrored her class's motto "If we rest, we rust".

Casey and Vivian Damratowski Scholarship
A love of agriculture, education, and music were at the heart of Casey and Vivian Damratowski's married life. Casey farmed many years west of Loup City with his father, Frank, and that dedicated stewardship of the land led Casey and Vivian to establish a scholarship for a Loup City graduating senior interested in pursuing agriculture as a career.

Chris Hiatt Scholarship
During his senior year at Loup City High School in 1983, Chris Hiatt was killed in a car accident. Our of this tragedy, Chris's family and friends established a scholarship in his name to keep the memory of this outstanding academic and active young man alive.

Robert L. and Marcella C. Jablonski Family Scholarship
This close-knit family of 12 from Loup City organized a scholarship fund in memory of son and brother, Robert D. Jablonski, when he died. The scholarship expanded in name and value to include parents Robert L. and Marcella C. after their deaths. Applicants with physical challenges are given priority.

Sorensen/Aeppel Scholarship
This combined scholarship started out as two separate funds--Hans and Trudie Aeppel, and Christian A. Sorensen. The Aeppels were German immigrants who retired in Loup City and held education in high esteem. Sorensen was born in a sodhouse in the Nebraska panhandle, but graduated from Loup City High School in 1909. He gained fame after earning a law degree. Sorensen served two terms as Nebraska's attorney general during the Prohibition Era, and sought justice against organized crime in the state.

Knights of Columbus Council 5455 Scholarship
Graduating seniors from Loup City, Arcadia, Litchfield, and Ravenna High Schools who plan to major in health care, science, or special education are a good fit for this scholarship. Preference is given to students wanting to work with mentally or physically challenged people.

Peter J. and Rose Ann Kowalski Scholarship
The family of Peters J. and Rose Ann Kowalski established a scholarship fund to honor their parents after they died. The Kowalski's were well-known, respected, and successful business owners and civic leaders in Loup City.

Jerome and Linda Lobner Scholarship
A retired Loup City High School journalism teacher, Jerome Lobner and his wife, Linda, dedicated a scholarship for graduating Loup City High School seniors, with preference given to applicants exploring a college major in media.

Charles and Mildred Peterson Scholarships
Born on a farm in 1910 that eventually became part of Sherman Reservoir, Charles Peterson worked 41 years for the Union Pacific Railroad in Grand Island and Omaha before retiring and returning to Sherman County. Charles and his wife, Mildred, put much of their wealth behind the advocacy for the construction of Loup City's Community Center and Peterson Park Ball Fields. The couple also bequested money for three annual scholarships, one each to be awarded to Loup City High School graduates entering the fields of agriculture, nursing, and education.

Keith C. and Doris M. Moeller Scholarship
A WWII Veteran, Keith Moeller and his wife, Doris, believed in the dignity of vocational education. Upon their deaths, family and friends set up this scholarship to help Loup City High School graduates attend a technical or community college.

Fritz and Nora Obermiller Scholarship
Graduating Loup City High School seniors can benefit from the Fritz and Nora Obermiller Scholarship, particularly if pursuing a degree in agriculture, nursing, or education. The scholarship was established to honor the farm couple after their death.

Mina Schumann Scholarship
Born in 1903, Mina Schumann thrived as an educator in Sherman County for 50 years, primarily teaching Home Economics. She is remembered fondly by many former students, and her name now graces the Wall of Fame in the Loup City High School.

Ron Setlik Memorial Scholarship
Five years after he graduated from Loup City High School in 1970, Ron Setlik died in a tragic car accident. His family memorialized him in thie scholarship established to help other Loup City graduating seniors attain a college degree.

Lucille Toczek Schuett Scholarship
A 1936 graduate of Loup City High School, Lucille was the youngest of nine children in her farm family. She spent most of her life working in the health care field. Lucille's daughters honored her with this scholarship after she died.

Rena Uhlig Trust Scholarship
Rena Uhlig loved dogs for their loyalty and companionship. She also found the Sherman County Community Foundation trustworthy, and bequested a generous scholarship fund to it after her death to benefit Loup City High School students. Her scholarship is one of the oldest in the Foundation's history.

Zella Long Beckman Memorial Scholarship
A Loup City native, Zella Beckman kept a promise she made to herself to pay it forward after an anonymous donor set up a fund at a local bank to help cover her freshman year college expenses when she became sick during her senior year at Loup City High Shool in 1956. After marrying, moving to California, and becoming a successful speech therapist, Zella made good on her promise. When she died in 2022, her family organized a scholarship fund for Loup City students needing help to attend college.

James A. Gembala Scholarshp
Appreciation for the care he received from the staff at Rose Lane Nursing Home where he lived the last 12 years of his life spurred Loup Citian James Gembala to bequeath money in his will for a nursing scholarship fund.
